Oishi! :D

"Salome's Order"

I come to restaurant to order
A food that will stop my hunger.
Suddenly, I see you sitting there
Staring in the middle of nowhere.

Our eyes meet each other.
We exchange our smiles like it will last forever.
Cupid's arrow got stuck beneath my shoulder.
This love story begins with my first order.

"One strawberry ice cream, please." I said to the vendor
To cool my heart that heats up like a fire.
I move next to you to get closer
And everything is happened according to my desire.

"Spicy beef mami for us, please." we ordered together
To savor this special moment of our love.
For our love is like eating spicy red chilies
We tingle with excitement as we soak with sweat.

We finished our meals with smiles on our lips
But this picture-perfect scene rips.
My bright face turns into frown
When another woman comes around.

You were stunned by her beauty
As the flies can enter into your gasp.
I thought you're full and you're satisfied with me.
Now I realize that it won't last.

I come again to restaurant to order
A drink that will quench my thirst.
Suddenly, I see you sitting there
With your new girl whose chest is almost bare.

Our eyes meet each other.
I give him a grimace like it will lasts forever.
There's no room for love but only hate.
This love story will ends with my last order.

"One beer, please!" I said to the vendor
To soothe this foolish heartache
Every time I see you with your new girl,
I want to throw you a cake.

"One more beer, please!!!" I ordered again
To drown myself, to escape the pain
I'm enjoying the bitter taste alone,
Pretending that I didn't moan.

Shape Poem

Snail Speed
by Sheri Doyle

Fast is fun!
Fast is fine!
But sometimes S-L-O-W is just divine:
sipping icy lemonade
stretching back in willow's shade
searching for the perfect shell
lifting pine cones up to smell
hanging from a maple tree
swimming backwards, floating free
waiting for the fish to bite
holding steady on my kite
watching sunsets from the shore
gazing up at stars galore
hugging by the fireside
dreaming of a turtle ride

Copy-Paste Poem... :)

"Autumn"
by Helen Keller

Oh, what a glory doth the world put on
These peerless, perfect autumn days
There is a beautiful spirit of gladness everywhere,
The wooded waysides are luminous with brightly painted leaves;
The forest-trees with royal grace have donned
Their gorgeous autumn tapestries;
And even the rocks and fences are broidered
With ferns, sumachs and brilliantly tinted ivies.
But so exquisitely blended are the lights and shades,
The golds, scarlets and purples, that no sense is wearied;
For God himself hath painted the landscape.

The hillsides gleam with golden corn;
Apple and peach-trees bend beneath their burdens of golden fruit.
The golden-rods, too, are here, whole armies of them,
With waving plumes, resplendent with gold;
And about the wild grapes, purple and fair and full of sunshine,
The little birds southward going
Linger, like travelers at an Inn,
And sip the perfumed wine.
And far away the mountains against the blue sky stand
Calm and mysterious, like prophets of God,

Wrapped in purple mist.

"Reawakening"
By: Jossa C. Delos Santos

I curved my lips
As you walked by.
You seem so mad.
I don't know why.

You made my day,
So perfectly.
For you it seems
A tragedy.

I attempt to kiss.
I attempt to hold.
Achieving the bliss
But you withhold.

Arduous efforts
To make you mine.
Disdaining thoughts
Have reached my mind.

I feel ashamed
Of what I've done.
Disgusting obsession
That makes me drown.

Time have passed,
Emotions quite gone.
Now you are here
To sue my heart.

Your soothing words,
Your warm caress,
Your gentle smooch,
To please me back.

My foolish heart
Begins to beat.
My stupid mind
Begins to think.

Innocently convinced,
You hoodwinked me.
Too late to realize,
What happened to me?

I feel ashamed
Of what I've done.
It's complicated,
Reawakened desire.

"What Filipino looks like: Traditions and Beliefs"

"What Filipino looks like: Traditions and Beliefs"

Filipinos are well-known for their unique culture and traditions. It can be seen through exploring the Philippine Literature. Here are some of those pieces in Philippine Literature that I've read which show the rich culture of the Filipinos.

In the play "World is an Apple", we can see the beliefs of the Filipinos. In a slum community, poor people believe that wealthy people have a great power over poor. Mario was fired out because he only stole an apple. As I read and analyze the play, I know that it was not the stealing of apple matters. I think that the company didn't like Mario in the first place because Mario had past record of crimes. Even though he had changed, other people didn't believe it. The company where Mario worked waited Mario to commit mistakes in order to fired him. Mario can't complain because he knows that he's just a poor and rich people with authority are powerful than him. Mario had an argument with his wife, Gloria, because  of what happened. Gloria believed that poor people do not have the right to act like wealthy people. In this play, Gloria said to Mario that only rich people can afford delicious apple. Poor people, who are desperate to have money,  will do risky things just to have money ( the term "kapit sa patalim"). Mario, who had influenced by Pablo, choose to become a criminal again to have money. He didn't know what to do after he had lost his job so that's why he contacts Pablo again.

In the play "New Yorker in Tondo", Tony showed respect for the female characters as some Filipinos do. Tony didn't laugh in front of Aling Atang although Aling Atang looks silly in her new look. He didn't also hit Kikay even though he was irritated at her that time. Instead, he controlled himself not to hurt her physically.

In the play "Three Rats", the hardest part in husband-wife relationship is the temptation of adultery. Some Filipinos, like Gonzalo, would do the revenge to win their wife back. He didn't hurt her wife but he killed his best friend, Adrian, who was the lover of his wife.

In the play "Sabina", there  are some cultures that can be seen. First, Filipinos are religious. The first scene was the praying of the characters in the play. They prayed for Sabina's sake. Second, elders give advice to the youth. It's a culture of elderly Filipinos to give some advice to support their children. Like Mamerto, he supports his granddaughter's (Sabina's) decisions. Third, Filipino women are caring. It can be seen in the play how Sabina cared for her love, Mr. George Price. Lastly, members of the Filipino family are protective, especially to the ladies.  Antero, Sabina's brother, protects her from Mr. George Price. He is concern for Sabina's sake.

In the play "Sepang Loca", the couples who are not capable of bearing child are dancing in front of the Patron Saint statue. It's a belief that everyone knows. If the couple dances, then somehow their wish is granted by that Patron Saint. In the play, Sepa danced and she bears a child later on but eventually died due to her mistake.

"Food Trip"
(My First-ever  Five Food Limericks)
by Jossa C. Delos Santos
II-1

            I.

 "White Spaghetti"

So, they called it carbonara,
Affordable than tiara.
I bought it from Aunt Lily's.
I ate it at Aunt Nely's.
She hits me with stick made of  narra.

II.

"Kettle Korn"

There was a food named Kettle Korn.
I love that kind of cheese popcorn.
I don't want to advertise
Though it seems to hypnotize
The one who loves to play a horn.

III.

"Sweetened Sweet Potato"

There's a sweetened sweet potato,
Not so cheap than a tomato.
It makes me satiated
Although I'm daunted
The effect of eating sweet potato.

IV.

"Bubble Gum"

A bubble gum is fun to munch
Even though it gives no crunch.
If I share it to you
And you enjoy it too,
Then, I will give you a bunch.

V.

"Wafer Stick"

A long chocolate wafer stick,
The tasty one I stole from Nick.
Its crunchy wafer roll
That makes me want to loll
Like doggy dog on the slapstick.

(There you have it! Haha. I hope those limericks gave you amusement.)
